I 1933 viste Jomfru Maria otte gange for pigen Mariette Beco og præsenterede sig som Jomfruen for de Fattige. Siden da kommer der årligt omkring 600.000 pilgrimme fra alle nationer til Kilden, som Maria reserverede "til syge fra alle nationer." Helligdommen i Banneux har en esplanade, forskellige kapeller, indrammet i en skovfyldt omgivelser, en gæstfrihed med 350 senge og en stor kirke med 4000 pladser.
