Historien om Aigremont's sted er lang tilbage i tiden og henvises stadig i mange legender. Aigremont var dengang en ægte fæstning og tilhørte oprindeligt kirken i Liège. I 1715 erhverver kanikken Mathias Clercx godset. Han bygger et slot, der var beregnet som sommerbolig.
