La historia del sitio de Aigremont se remonta mucho tiempo atrás y todavía se menciona en muchas leyendas. Aigremont era entonces una verdadera fortaleza y pertenecía inicialmente a la iglesia de Lieja. En 1715, el canónigo Mathias Clercx adquiere la señoría. Construye un castillo que estaba destinado a ser una residencia de verano. La Oficina de Turismo de Flémalle le invita a conocer un ejemplo notable de la arquitectura de Lieja del principio del siglo XVIII.
