Det 40 ha store naturområde De Broekbeemd ligger i den sydlige del af Herkvallei, mellem landsbyerne Wellen og Herten. I 1992 blev det første Limburgske græsningsprojekt med skotske højlandskvæg oprettet. De Broekbeemd er tilgængeligt for alle. Den uddannelsesmæssige og rekreative medbrugsermål er et bevidst mål for forvalterne.
