Willem (Guillaume) D’hanens (1819) var en af de stiftere og vigtigste aktionærer af jernbanelinjen Mechelen-Terneuzen (MT). Han var også advokat og borgmester i Sint-Niklaas og som grundejer tæt involveret i vandløbsadministrationen. Han må have haft en vane med at rejse med tog til Sint-Gillis-Waas eller De Klinge flere gange om ugen for at lave inspektionsrunder. Den 9. februar 1888 mistede han livet ved stationen i De Klinge. Hans familie satte et mindekors op ved stationen.
