Det tyske nationalteater og Staatskapelle Weimar er den mest betydningsfulde scenedrift i Weimar. Institutionen forener musikteateret og tale-scenen Det Tyske Nationalteater samt orkesteret Staatskapelle Weimar. Der spilles i alt på seks scener i hele byområdet. Alle teatrets og orkestrets genrer giver desuden uregelmæssige gæsteoptrædener og har desuden optrædener i de elektroniske medier. Ejere af Det Tyske Nationalteater og Staatskapelle Weimar GmbH - Staatstheater Thüringen er Fristaten Thüringen og byen Weimar.
