Northeim er en mellemby og selvstændig kommune i Sydniedersachsen, Tyskland. Den tidligere hansestad er sæde for Landkreis Northeim og opfylder funktionerne som et mellemcenter. I europabyen, der strækker sig over ca. 145 km², bor cirka 29.100 indbyggere. Arealmæssigt er Northeim efter Einbeck den næststørste by i Sydniedersachsen.
Northeim ligger i Sydniedersachsen i det nordsaksiske bjergland ved de yderste sydvestlige skråninger af Harzen, eller nogle kilometer øst for Solling. Det ligger 20 kilometer nord for storbyen Göttingen. Gennem byens centrum løber den 10. grad østlig længde. På indkøbsgaden Breite Straße er længdegraden markeret med hvide brosten.
