Medebach er en lille by i Hochsauerlandkreis i det østlige Nordrhein-Westfalen. I middelalderen blev der drevet langdistancehandel i byen, og den var medlem af Hanseforbundet, hvorfor den officielt bærer tillægget "Hansestad" siden den 24. juli 2012. I den tidlige moderne tid mistede stedet sin betydning og blev en landmandsby. Strukturen af den nuværende by går tilbage til den kommunale omorganisering i 1969. Her blev byen Medebach og de øvrige kommuner i det daværende Amt Medebach sammenlagt til den nye amtsfrie by Medebach. Turisme spiller i dag en stor økonomisk rolle. En stor del af byens område er underlagt de strenge naturschutzbestemmelser i Fauna-Flora-Habitat-direktivet fra Den Europæiske Union.
