Medebach ligger ved foden af Rothaargebirge. Medebach er en Hansestad. Hansestæder er medlemmer af Hanseforbundet, som har sin oprindelse som en samarbejdsorganisation af byer ved Østersøen. Senere kom også andre byer fra andre regioner med. De store Hansestæder søgte forbindelse til de mindre steder og byer i baglandet som Medebach. Medebach er en mindre by med 8000 indbyggere, og med nogle smukke bindingsværkshuse.
