Wedau er en bydel i Duisburg i byområdet Duisburg-Syd. I bydelen bor 5.014 mennesker på 4,78 km² .
Navnet Wedau fra Weidenaue betegnede allerede i begyndelsen af det 14. århundrede en del af det store vådområde i indflydelsesområdet for bækkene Pootbach, Bummelbach, Wambach, Haubach og Dickelsbach. Dette navn fremgår af Lancizollesche kortet fra 1733 som Weidau og på kortet fra Pepperhoff 1837 som Weddau. To dokumenter fra Kaiserswerth-stiftet fra 1318 og 1355 om salget af to grunde med navnet Wedowen er endnu ikke sikkert blevet knyttet til stedet Wedau, selvom den gamle stavemåde for au tidligere var ouwe, owe eller ow, en betegnelse for en fugtig lavning.
