Erbeskopf er med en højde på 816,32 m over NHN det højeste bjerg i Hunsrück og i Rheinland-Pfalz, samt den højeste tyske højderyg vest for Rhinen. Det ligger i Naturpark Saar-Hunsrück og på den nordlige kant af Nationalpark Hunsrück-Hochwald.
Erbeskopf ligger i den sydvestlige del af Hunsrück og dens bjergdel Idarwald, som det naturligt hører til, tæt på grænsen til bjergdelen Schwarzwälder Hochwald, som det morfologisk tilhører. Den største del med sin top tilhører lokalbyen Hilscheid i forbundet Thalfang am Erbeskopf i Landkreis Bernkastel-Wittlich, mens resten tilhører Allenbach i Landkreis Birkenfeld. Den nordøstlige nabobjerg, også i Idarwald, er Kahlheid.
