Midten af et landskabsbeskyttelsesområde ligger ved Ems den tidligere korsbrødremunkekloster Bentlage. Grundlagt i 1437 blev klosteret fra 1803 omdannet til herresæde og befinder sig i dag i besiddelse af byen Rheine. Nu er den fredede ejendom efter omhyggelig restaurering et kulturcenter, museum, fristed i det grønne og et populært udflugtsmål for gæster fra nær og fjern.
