Planetariet Merseburg ligger i centrum af en rund bygning med en diameter på 26 m ved den Forreste Gotthardteich i byen Merseburg.
Planetariet Merseburg åbnede den 7. oktober 1969. Indtil genforeningen var der en Kosmos-isbar i den ydre bygningsring, som fra 1992 blev til en asiatisk restaurant. Planetariet har i lang tid været et sted for astronomisk skole- og folkeuddannelse. Mens skoleundervisningen i astronomi kørte kontinuerligt, blev der over en længere periode ikke tilbudt aktiviteter for offentligheden.
