Hansa-Realskolen blev grundlagt i 1951 i Soest, som lejer i det daværende gymnasium på Hohen Weg. Ledelsen af den kommunale realskole for drenge og piger blev overdraget til Heinrich Jühe, som blev udnævnt til rektor den 1. april 1953. I 1962 blev der givet ordre til at planlægge byggeriet af den nye Hansa-Realskole af byen Soest til K. H. Beyerling. Den første spadestik blev taget i 1963. Efter to års byggetid kunne skolen den 15. oktober 1965 flytte ind i den nye bygning. Dengang blev eleverne adskilt efter køn, derfor er der også en øst- og en vestdel.
