På Brocken i Harzen findes omfattende sendanlæg, herunder i alt tolv radiostationer: ni FM-stationer til analog og digital radio og tre tv-stationer til udsendelse af programpakker i digitalt format DVB-T2 HD. Derudover kommer der sendere til mobil- og mikrobølgekommunikation, en MSSR-radarstation fra den tyske luftfartsmyndighed og to amatørradio-relais.
De første planer for et sendernet til det nye medie tv begyndte den tyske post i år 1934. Udover tv-stationen Paul Nipkow i Berlin-Witzleben var sendesteder som Feldberg i Taunus, Inselsberg i Thüringer Wald samt Zugspitze, Schneekoppe og Brocken planlagt. På sin top blev der mellem 1936 og 1937 bygget det første tyske tv-tårn, som nu fungerer som Brockenhotel, udsigtstårn og radarstation.
