Siden 1998 har en initiativ mødt for en selvstyret, ikke-kommerciel mødested i Witten. I marts 1999 blev en butikslokale i beboelsesbygningen Herbeder Straße 8 lejet, og i april blev Trotz Allem officielt åbnet. Det samme butikslokale blev fra 1891 brugt af den Witteniske filial af den tyske metalarbejderforening og under Weimarrepublikken af den Witteniske KPD.
