Heidhofsøen ligger i det vidunderlige naturreservat Kirchheller Heide nord for Bottrop. Omringet af tætte løv- og nåleskove, hedelandskaber og fugtige områder er den lille sø et sted for stilhed. Vandrere, ryttere, familier, naturinteresserede og fiskere kan her få fuldt udbytte. Lige i nærheden byder det gamle Heidhof med sit skovkompetencecenter, grillpladser og eventyrlegeplads til ophold. Søen kan nemmest nås via vandreparkeringspladsen Heidhofsøen overfor lufthavnen Schwarze Heide.
