Den tolv kilometer lange Berlin-Spandauer Skibsfarts Kanal forbinder floderne Spree og Havel. Kanalen er en føderal vandvej og ligger helt inden for Berlins byområde. Fra Spree til slusen Plötzensee hører den til vandvejsklasse III, derfra til Havel til klasse IV. Juridisk tilhører BSK også de føderale vandveje Westhafen-forbindelseskanel og Westhafenkanal med Charlottenburger forbindelseskanel. Ansvarlig for forvaltningen er Vandvejs- og Skibsfartsmyndigheden Spree-Havel.

Mange berlinere og turister kender Berlin-Spandauer Skibsfarts Kanal under navnet Hohenzollernkanal. Sådan står den også på topografiske kort, indtil kort før år 2000 også på flere bykort, herunder også online-kortet fra www.berlin.de. På Geoinformation Berlins portal er det ældre navn anført i parentes bag det officielle: „Berlin-Spandauer Skibsfarts Kanal“.
