Blumberg er en del af kommunen Ahrensfelde, som ligger lige øst for Berlin. Det ligger ved Bundesstraße 158 og Berliner Ring. Stedet har cirka 2500 indbyggere.
Blumberg var siden cirka 1237 frem til midten af det 16. århundrede først som Tafelgut en del af højbiskopens Brandenburg, bispefyrstedømmet i Brandenburg. Det skulle i løbet af den videre kolonisering overtage bymæssige funktioner. Dette understreges af betegnelsen Oppidum i gamle dokumenter, der snart bliver til oppidulo, en diminutivform af oppidum. Stednavnet dukker første gang op i 1253 i et af dokumenterne vedrørende byen Frankfurt. I dette dokument nævnes en Theodericus von Blumenberch, som var befuldmægtiget for brændslagerne og sandsynligvis blev betroet med kolonisering af Blumberg Tafelgut.
