Naturbeskyttelsesområdet med betegnelsen NSG 0066 har en størrelse på 6,44 hektar. Det er en del af EU-fuglebeskyttelsesområdet "Nordøstlige Unterharz" og er helt omgivet af landskabsbeskyttelsesområdet "Harz und Vorländer". Området har været beskyttet siden den 1. maj 1961. Den ansvarlige underordnede naturbeskyttelsesmyndighed er Landkreis Harz.
