Neustadt ligger i det midt-hessiske bjergland i den yderste østlige del af Marburg-Biedenkopf kommune. Neustädter Sattel tilhører den Oberhessiske tærskel og er en del af Rhein-Weser-vandskille. Neustadt ligger ved Schwalm-bivandet Wiera og dermed – som den eneste kommune i Marburg-Biedenkopf – i oplandet til Weser. Alle andre kommuner i kommunen tilhører oplandet til Lahn og dens biflod Ohm og dermed til Rhinen.
