Asamkirken i Sendlinger Straße i Münchens gamle by blev opført af brødrene Asam fra 1733 til 1746. Den betragtes som et af de vigtigste bygninger fra de to hovedrepræsentanter for den sydtyske senbarok. Asamkirken står allerede på tærsklen til rokokoen, men den typiske form i ornamentikken, rocaille, forekommer endnu ikke her.
Kirken skulle oprindeligt opføres som kapel for de brødre Asam, som nu var bosat i München. Efter at Egid Quirin Asam mellem 1729 og 1733 havde formået at erhverve flere grunde ved siden af sit eget hus, opførte han fra 1733 sammen med sin bror Cosmas Damian kirken St. Johann Nepomuk der. Grundstensnedlæggelsen fandt sted i 1733 på festdagen for den hellige Nepomuk af kurfyrst Maximilian Joseph af Bayern; den stadig ufuldendte kirke blev indviet den 1. maj 1746.
