Fürstbiskop Otto III., greve af Rietberg (1301-1306), lod Füchtelner Mühle blive bygget som landmølle. Den tilhørte vandborgen Haus Füchteln, som var stamstedet for ridderne von Kukelshem.
Füchtelner Mühle
Med udviklingen af Ruhrområdet i det 19. århundrede blev vandmøllen også brugt som savmølle.
I forbindelse med udbygningen af Stever har vandværket i Gelsenkirchen købt de gamle mølledragsretter til Füchtelner Mühle, inklusive de eksisterende anlæg. I 1992 blev der bygget et boligkompleks og et vandkraftværk i de gamle bygninger. Lige i nærheden, på den modsatte side, ligger landhuset Füchtelner Mühle Restaurant og Café (Kökelsumer Straße 66; 59399 Olfen).
