Le prince-évêque Otton III, comte de Rietberg (1301-1306), fit construire le moulin de Füchteln comme moulin d’État. Il appartenait au château entouré de douves de Haus Füchteln, qui était le siège ancestral des chevaliers de Kukelshem.
Füchtelner Mühle
Avec le développement de la région de la Ruhr au 19ème siècle, le moulin à eau a également été utilisé comme scierie.
Dans le cadre de l’agrandissement de la Stever, l’usine de distribution d’eau de Gelsenkirchen a racheté l’ancien barrage du moulin directement au moulin de Füchtelner, y compris les installations existantes. En 1992, un immeuble d’habitation et une centrale hydroélectrique ont été construits dans les anciens bâtiments. À proximité, en face, se trouve le restaurant et café Landhaus Füchtelner Mühle (Kökelsumer Straße 66 ; 59399 Olfen).
