Trennfurt ligger på den venstre bred af Main floden på omtrent 128 m over havets overflade ved Bundesstraße 469 mellem Laudenbach og Wörth am Main.
I midten af det 2. århundrede efter Kristus opførte romerne kastellet Trennfurt som en del af Mainlimes. I 1751 blev der fundet et romersk offeralter i Trennfurt, som i dag er muret ind i indgangsområdet til Trennfurter kirke "Sankt Maria Magdalena". Ifølge inskriptionen blev heilstenen i år 212 doneret af et skovhuggerkommando fra den i Mainz stationerede 22. legion til guderne Jupiter, Silvanus og gudinden Diana.
