Walter Busch grundlagde i 1934 under navnet Walter Busch Sohn en "postordre for kvalitets Skrædderartikler fra Solingen". I 1950'erne specialiserede virksomheden sig i forsendelse af elektriske apparater og husholdningsartikler, især elektriske barbermaskiner. I 1959 tog Walbusch strygefrie Nyltest-skjorter med i kataloget. Det var begyndelsen på overgangen til tekstilhandelen. I 1963 fulgte Walbusch-skjorten med kraven uden knap. Denne skjorte, som på grund af sit bestemte snit ved kraven blev patentere i 1999, betragtes den dag i dag som husets varemærke.
