Universitetet i Salamanca blev grundlagt i 1218 af kong Alfons IX af León og er den ældste universitet i Spanien og et af de ældste i Europa. Universitetet ligger i den spanske by Salamanca, vest-nordvest for hovedstaden Madrid.
I det sekstende århundrede oplevede dette universitet en stor blomstring. Salamanca-skolen var en filosofisk bevægelse, hvor teologer og jurister gav den sene middelalderlige skolastik et nyt fundament ved at gå tilbage til Thomas af Aquino.
