Recópolis er en gammel by af visigotisk oprindelse beliggende nær Zorita de los Canes. Den blev beordret bygget af Leovigildo til ære for sin søn Recaredo i 578. Den fungerede som et vigtigt bycentrum, hovedstad i en provins kaldet Celtiberia, med uklare grænser, øst for Carpetania. Det samlede kompleks betragtes som "et af de mest betydningsfulde fund fra middelalderen, da det er den eneste nybyggede by, der blev opført på statslig initiativ i begyndelsen af den høje middelalder i Europa," ifølge Lauro Olmo Enciso, professor i arkæologi ved Universitetet i Alcalá.
