Katedralen Saint-Jean blev bygget omkring 1165 og er ved siden af basilikaen Notre-Dame de Fourvière den mest betydningsfulde kirkebygning i byen Lyon samt sæde for ærkebiskoppen af Lyon. Det kulturhistoriske monument, der siden 1862 er klassificeret som monument historique og derfor beskyttet som et monument, kan tillægges den romanske og gotiske stil. Kirken dominerer kvarteret Vieux Lyon, hvor den ligger nær Saône-bredden.
