La Cinémathèque Française bevarer et af verdens største arkiver af film, dokumentarer og relaterede genstande. Med hovedsæde i Paris viser institutionen daglige filmforestillinger fra hele verden.
Samlingen opstod takket være Henri Langlois' indsats, som i 1930'erne begyndte at samle og vise film. Da Anden Verdenskrig brød ud, havde Langlois allerede et af verdens vigtigste audiovisuelle samlinger. De nazistiske myndigheder i det besatte Frankrig ønskede at ødelægge alle hans arkiver, men Langlois og hans venner formåede at beskytte dem indtil krigens slutning.
