Med sine over vandet hængende hoteller fra det 15. til 18. århundrede bliver Ornans, Gustave Courbets fødeby, nogle gange kaldt det lille Venedig af Franche-Comté. Fødehuset for den kunstnerisk og politisk revolutionære maler er nu et museum. Courbetmuseet viser omkring tres malerier og tegninger af mesteren og hans elever samt memorabilia og minder om ham selv og hans venner.
