Raon-aux-Bois er placeret i det distrikt, der er kendt som Vôge-Plateau, på den vestlige kant af Vosges-bjergene. Som navnet på kommunen antyder, har distriktet bevaret sit skovlandskab, med traditionelle modne skovområder i syd og nåletræplantager i nord.
En lille flod, Niche, krydser centrum af landsbyen på vej til Arches, hvor den går sammen med Moselle. Flodens kilde ligger i Humont-skoven mod syd.
