Kastellet Chaumont-sur-Loire ligger i byen Chaumont-sur-Loire. Slottet ligger højt over byen og har udsigt over floden Loire. Det er desuden på UNESCOs verdensarvsliste. Château Chaumont i Chaumont-sur-Loire tilhørte greven af Blois, Eudes I. Han gav det senere til Gelduin, en normannisk ridder. Senere kom slottet gennem gave i hænderne på familien d'Amboise. Hugues d'Amboise, den anden herre af Chaumont, byggede et sten slotstårn. Hermed havde han sammen med slottet i Amboise og château Montrichard skabt en trekant af forsvarsanlæg. I det 13. århundrede bevarede den ældste gren slottet i Amboise, mens Chaumont gik over til den yngste gren.
