Château de Lunéville, som havde tilhørt hertugerne af Lorraine siden det trettende århundrede, blev genopbygget som “Versailles i Lorraine” af hertug Léopold fra 1703 til 1723, efter tegninger af Pierre Bourdict og Nicolas Dorbay og derefter af arkitekten Germain Boffrand, hvis mesterværk det blev. Det blev hjemmet for kong Stanisław Leszczyński, sidste hertug af Lorraine og Bar.
