En vandrutschebane er en type kanal skråplan, der er bygget til at transportere både fra en kanal eller flod på en højde op til eller ned til en kanal eller flod på en anden højde.
I 1885 offentliggjorde den tyske ingeniør Julius Greve udkast til vandrutschebaner i tyske tidsskrifter. Den franske ingeniør Jean Aubert fremmede studierne i 1950'erne og 1960'erne.
