Vindolanda var en romersk hjælpetrop der lå lige syd for Hadrians mur i det nordlige England, som den oprindeligt var ældre end. Arkæologiske udgravninger af stedet viser, at det var under romersk besættelse fra cirka 85 e.Kr. til 370 e.Kr. Beliggende nær den moderne landsby Bardon Mill i Northumberland, beskyttede det Stanegate, den romerske vej fra floden Tyne til Solway Firth. Det er kendt for Vindolanda-tabletterne, en samling af træbladstabletter, som var, på tidspunktet for deres opdagelse, de ældste bevarede håndskrevne dokumenter i Storbritannien.
