Det ligger i hjertet af Badenoch og Strathspey, syv miles syd for Aviemore og syv miles nord for Kingussie. Den nærmeste landsby til søen er Kincraig. Søen er et sted for sejlads, windsurfing og kajak/kano. Der er et velforsynet vandsportscenter på den sydøstlige side af søen, og der er også godt fiskeri. Vandsportscentret suppleres af flere chaleter og et lille hotel ved navn Insh Hall.
