Si trova nel cuore di Badenoch e Strathspey, a sette miglia a sud di Aviemore e a sette miglia a nord di Kingussie. Il villaggio più vicino al loch è Kincraig. Il loch è un luogo per vela, windsurf e kayak/canoa. C'è un centro di sport acquatici ben fornito sul lato sud-est del loch e ci sono ottime possibilità di pesca. Il centro di sport acquatici è completato da diversi chalet e un piccolo hotel di nome Insh Hall.
