Som filmlokation optrådte Freshwater West omfattende i 2010-filmen Robin Hood med Russell Crowe i hovedrollen, som skildrede den franske invasion af det sydlige England. Over 600 statister og 150 heste blev brugt under optagelserne på stranden. Det var også en filmlokation for de sidste to Harry Potter-filme: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Del 1 og Del 2. Strandscenerne med Dobby elven blev filmet på stranden, og "Shell Cottage" blev bygget ved foden af sandklitterne. Hytten blev fjernet efter optagelserne. Freshwater West blev også brugt som filmlokation i sæson fire af BBC-produktionen, The Sarah Jane Adventures og filmen The Thief of Bagdad.
