Margate er en kystby i Thanet, Kent, England, 15 miles nordøst for Canterbury, som inkluderer Cliftonville, Garlinge, Palm Bay og Westbrook.
Byen har været en betydelig maritim havn siden middelalderen og blev forbundet med Dover som en del af Cinque Ports i det 15. århundrede. Den blev et populært sted for feriegæster i det 18. århundrede, på grund af nem adgang via Themsen, og senere med jernbanernes ankomst; populære vartegn inkluderer de sandede strande og Dreamland-forlystelsesparken.
