Hospitalet blev grundlagt som en af de syv faciliteter for Akut Behandling af militære ofre i 1940. Det modtog ofre under Clydebank Blitz, da to ødelæggende Luftwaffe-luftbombardementer på skibsbygnings- og ammunitionfabriksbyen Clydebank i Skotland fandt sted i marts 1941. De træhytter, der blev opført under krigen, blev efter krigen fortsat brugt til civile formål. Det blev en del af National Health Service i 1948, men på grund af den afsides beliggenhed lukkede det endelig i 1972.
