Skibruget af Olympia sank i februar 1980. Kaptajnen søgte efter et sted nær kysten, hvor de kunne finde ly for de kraftige nordenvinde. Men de var magtesløse, og det urolige hav kastede dem ind i bugten ved Liverio tæt på stranden ved Kalotaritissa. Heldigvis blev hele besætningen reddet. Skibruget optræder i mange scener i filmen "The Big Blue" af Luc Besson. Det er også et populært dykkersted på øen.
