El naufragio de Olympia se hundió en febrero de 1980. El capitán buscaba un lugar cerca de la costa donde pudieran encontrar refugio de los fuertes vientos del norte. Pero estaban indefensos y el mar agitado los arrojó a la bahía de Liverio cerca de la playa de Kalotaritissa. Afortunadamente, toda la tripulación fue rescatada. El naufragio aparece en muchas escenas de la película "El Gran Azul" de Luc Besson. También es un popular lugar de buceo en la isla.
