Den 20. oktober 1968 blev Aristotle Onassis og Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis gift på denne ø. Før dette ægteskab afsluttede Onassis sit forhold til Maria Callas for at gifte sig med enken efter John F. Kennedy. Jacqueline fik tre millioner dollars, da hun giftede sig med ham. Christina, Onassis' datter fra hans tidligere ægteskab, ville ikke vide noget om Jackie, og efter sin bror Alexanders død overbeviste hun sin far om, at Jackie bragte død i sit kølvand og medførte uheld. Parret blev fremmed for hinanden. Onassis døde i en alder af 69 år i Neuilly-sur-Seine af muskelsygdommen myasthenia gravis. Hans datter Christina arvede hans formue. Jackie utfordrede dette og nåede til sidst til en mindelig aftale på 26 millioner dollars.
