Et unikt terrasselandskab, geologisk set yderst bemærkelsesværdigt for Nederland. Terrasserne er opstået i løbet af titusinder af år gennem erosioner fra Maas og forskydninger i jordskorpen. Dette skete langs tre brudlinjer, der løber gennem området. På tværs af terrasserne leder Roode Beek og Boschbeek vandet væk til floden Roer. Meinweg er det eneste område i Nederland, hvor hugormen stadig findes.
