Eine einzigartige Terrassenlandschaft, geologisch äußerst besonders für die Niederlande. Die Terrassen sind im Laufe von zehntausenden Jahren durch Erosionen der Maas und Verschiebungen in der Erdkruste entstanden. Dies geschah entlang von drei Verwerfungslinien, die durch das Gebiet verlaufen. Quer zu den Terrassen leiten die Roode Beek und die Boschbeek das Wasser zum Fluss Roer. Die Meinweg ist das einzige Gebiet in den Niederlanden, in dem die Kreuzotter noch vorkommt.
