Terwispel er en landsby i kommunen Opsterland i østlige Friesland, Holland. Dens nabovillager er Tijnje, Nij Beets, Beetsterzwaag, Lippenhuizen, Gorredijk, Langezwaag og Luxwoude. Den havde en befolkning på omkring 1.020 i januar 2017. I det 11. århundrede blev Terwispel grundlagt som en koloni for tørvgravning i skovene i Sydøst-Fryslân. Dette var essentielt for økonomien i størstedelen af Nederlandene, da tørret tørv kaldet turf var det mest almindelige brændstof. Men efterhånden som gravere bevægede sig længere østpå ind i Drenthe, mistede Terwispel sin velstand. På det tidspunkt var Terwispel meget større end i dag, da også den nuværende naboby Tijnje var en del af Terwispel-samfundet.
