Schimmert er en af de højest beliggende landsbyer i Holland. Den ligger på en plateau ved kanten af Heuvelland. Det er kendetegnet ved et rigt foreningsliv. Schimmert er en del af kommunen Beekdaelen, og indtil 31. december 2018 var den en del af kommunen Nuth, beliggende i provinsen Limburg. Den vigtigste vej er Hoofdstraat, hvor kirken ligger. Schimmert har 3.195 indbyggere og var en del af kommunen Nuth mellem 1982 og 2019.
