Zwinderen er en landsby, der ligger ved A37 i kommunen Coevorden, provinsen Drenthe, i trekanten mellem Coevorden, Hoogeveen og Emmen. På brinken ligger stenen til minde om 775 år med Zwinderen. Zwinderen er allerede nævnt i et charter fra biskoppen af Utrecht. Et par familier har spillet en vigtig rolle i Zwinderen, nemlig familien Rigterink og familien Oldenhuis.
