I begyndelsen af det 20. århundrede havde De Heurne en egen station på jernbanelinjen Varsseveld - Dinxperlo. Bygningen er stadig til stede som bolig, overfor cafeteriaet, hvor der også er opsat et jernbanemonument. Kun en række træer bag et nybygget boligområde og en gammel lagerhal minder stadig om jernbanelinjen, som blev nedlagt i 1935. Indtil 1. januar 2005 var De Heurne en del af Dinxperlo kommune. Landsbyen har blandt andet en protestantisk kirke og en skole.
